Who is Hodalump & Ratschkatl®?
We are a family business from Upper Bavaria – now in its fourth generation. That gives us knowledge of leather goods going back to 1947, and it shows in the quality of our products.
We combine rustic design with a modern touch, and that is how we built our brand Hodalump & Ratschkatl®.
Are your leather goods waterproof?
Our leather goods are made from high-quality, robust buffalo leather that is naturally water-repellent. Light rain is no problem, but they are not fully waterproof.
To keep your Hodalump products in good shape, we recommend regular care with our leather grease. If your bag or wallet gets wet, let it dry slowly in the air – never directly on a radiator. Dirt can be removed carefully with a dry cloth.
With the right care, your Hodalump stays a reliable companion in any weather.
How long does shipping take?
We know you want your new Hodalump bag in your hands as soon as possible. That is why we usually ship orders within 24 hours of receiving payment.
Delivery within Germany takes about 1–2 working days. Orders to other European countries can take 2–4 working days depending on the country. We work with reliable carriers such as DHL to make sure your parcel arrives quickly and safely.
As soon as your parcel is on its way, you will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number so you can follow your order at any time.

Can I buy your products in physical shops?
Yes, you can also buy our leather goods in store – at selected OBI and Hagebau outlets, at various specialist leather retailers and in local shops. In total we are represented at more than 500 retailers. There you can pick up our products and judge the quality for yourself. The largest selection, however, is here in our online shop.
Woran erkenne ich gutes Leder?
An drei Dingen – und alle drei kannst du selbst prüfen.
1. Vollnarbig statt gespalten. Eine Tierhaut wird waagrecht gespalten. Die zähe Außenschicht mit dem natürlichen Porenbild – die Narbe – ist die teure Hälfte. Der weiche Rest darunter bekommt eine Kunststoffschicht mit aufgeprägtem Ledermuster und läuft im Handel oft trotzdem als „Echtleder“. Im Laden sieht das gut aus. Nach zwei Jahren blättert es an den Kanten ab. Wir verwenden die Narbenschicht selbst. Erkennen kannst du das am Porenbild: Vollnarbiges Leder ist unregelmäßig, jede Haut sieht anders aus. Ein Muster, das sich alle paar Zentimeter wiederholt, ist geprägt – und damit keine Narbe.
2. Patina statt Abblättern. Echtes Narbenleder nimmt Fett und Licht auf, statt sie abzuweisen. Deshalb wird es dunkler und glänzender, je öfter du es in die Hand nimmst. Genau das ist die Probe aufs Exempel: Beschichtetes Leder kann keine Patina bekommen. Es kann nur abblättern.
3. Die Naht an der richtigen Stelle. Ein Geldbeutel stirbt nicht am Leder. Er stirbt an der Falzkante – der Stelle, die sich jeden Tag hundertmal knickt. Genau dort nähen wir doppelt. Beim Gürtel ist es die Lochreihe, bei der Tasche der Riemenansatz. Und wenn dort trotzdem eine Naht aufgeht: melden reicht, der Ersatz kommt kostenfrei – zwei Jahre lang.
